How do you arrange a direct cremation with Heritage Brothers Funeral Services?

No matter how you’re saying goodbye to your loved one, it’s not easy. For many families, a direct cremation is a simple, respectful and affordable way to honour their memory. If you’re considering this option, you may have some questions about the process, costs and exactly what to expect. At Heritage Brothers Funeral Services, we’re here to guide you through each step to ensure a seamless experience during these challenging times.
What is a direct cremation?
A direct cremation is a no-service, no-attendance cremation, providing a straightforward alternative to traditional funeral services. It can be a good option for families who prefer a private farewell or plan to hold a memorial at a later date. Once the cremation is complete, the cremated remains are returned to the family, allowing you to choose to commemorate your loved one in the way you wish.
Steps to arrange a direct cremation
Arranging a direct cremation on the Gold Coast with Heritage Brothers Funeral Services is a simple process. Here’s what you need to do:
1. Contact our Gold Coast funeral directors
The first step is to reach out to our compassionate team at Heritage Brothers Funeral Services. We will walk you through the process, answer any questions, and gather essential information about your loved one.
2. We organise the following documentation:
- The death certificate (we can assist with this process)
- Cremation permits from a doctor or coroner
- Authorisation for cremation, which must be signed by the next of kin
Our team will handle most of the paperwork on your behalf, ensuring everything is in order.
3. Transfer to our care
Once the necessary documents are completed, we’ll transfer your loved one into our care. This includes transport from their place of passing to our mortuary, where they will be respectfully prepared for cremation.
4. The cremation process
The cremation takes place in a professional and dignified manner at our crematorium in Chinderah. There is no formal service or gathering, keeping the process simple and private.
5. Receiving the cremated remains
After the cremation, we will return the ashes to you or your chosen executor. You may collect them in person or arrange for them to be posted via registered post (additional fees apply).
